Indiscipline implies the display of noisy, disorderly conduct, which hampers the smooth and harmonious functioning of the institution, whether inside the classroom and laboratory or outside, anywhere in the campus as well as outside. The students of KSCD should always remember that they are the torch-bearers of the institution and should not indulge in any behavior which brings disrepute to their institution, and a bad name to themselves.
Ragging is doing any act which causes or is likely to cause physical or physiological harm or even raise the apprehension of fear, shame or embarrassment to a student in the institution. Thus, ragging includes teasing, abusing or playing practical jokes on a student or causing hurt (either physical or mental torture) to a student. It also involves asking the student to do any act or perform something which a student will not ordinarily do, willingly. Ragging is neither a means of familiarization nor can be justified as an introduction of freshers to the seniors, but it is a form of psychopathic destructive behavior. Ragging is a violation of human rights. Ragging is totally prohibited in KSCD, and anyone found guilty of ragging or abetting the act of ragging, whether actively or passively, or is involved either fully or partly in a conspiracy to promote ragging, is liable to be severely punished. Ragging is a nonbailable, cognizable and punishable offence. Strictly, the students are asked to not indulge in ragging.
An Anti-Ragging Cell is active in the institution. If a student is proved guilty of ragging, severe punishment is awarded, which may include one or more of the following: Two years imprisonment, penalty or fine to the tune of Rs. 250,000/-, dismissal from the educational institution (thereby severely hampering the career of the guilty person, as such a person usually will not be admitted in any other educational institution).
In KSCD, a Discipline and Anti-ragging Cell has been established according to the regulations of the University Grants Commission (UGC), with the responsibility to ensure that the students maintain order and discipline in the class rooms as well as within the college campus. Members of the Discipline and Anti-ragging Cell monitor the behavior of students in the college, to make sure that the college campus is free from ragging and indiscipline. Students are encouraged to meet or contact the members of the discipline and anti-ragging committee to air their grievances.
